Do Good Project Week 15 : Onsite Setup & Final Copywriting

Final Copywriting

This is the finalized copywriting for Melda after discussing it with the users and lecturer.

Onsite Setup

I went to the IIS room in the school and try to set up everything by myself. The purpose is to letting myself understand the mood and feel of the environment setting and things to take into consideration when setting up the project.

Different Light Effects for Alpha Test (Test 4)

.I'm very confused to attempt which light effect for the users because different people have different opinions on it. Thus, I did a poll for the user to vote the effect that they are more comfortable with through social media platforms such as Instagram. The objective is to understand their judgment on the light effect from a layman's perspective. There is a total of 109 respondents.

When Melda is talking

Light effect 1

Light effect 2

Light effect 3

Another set with light effect 1

Another set with light effect 2

This is the final result of the poll. Surprisingly, most of the users dislike the light effect 3. From what I've gathered from their feedback, they have no feeling when looking at the light effect 3. It seems too colorful, powerful, and exaggerated for them. Most of them prefer something more relaxing and calming such as light effect 2.

Part of direct messages from the audiences

Although light effect 1 has the same voting as light effect 2, I have received direct messages from different audiences about the mood and feel of light effect 2. Accordingly, light effect 2 looks calmer and “healing" watching the lights flow gradually from top to bottom. It looks like something real but also unreal for them. It gives a mysterious feeling and they're comfortable with the lights of it.

Final Decision

Since the audiences like the mood and vibe for effect 2, I have amended the light effects of it. It comes with a set which is warm and cool colors. For the cool colors, I maintain them as it is. For the warm colors, I've tweaked some light transition so that it looks slightly different from the cool colors.

On the other hand, light effect 1 has a great response from the audiences as well. To make the jellyfish have more variations and exciting, why not give it a try by applying both light effects on different scenarios? Thus, I've decided to apply both different light effects for this project. For instance, after audio clip 1 is played, it will show sets of light effect 1; after audio clips 2& 3 are played, it will show sets of light effect 2. As a result, users can get to see and explore different light effects.

Problems

During the testing, I realize the intonation captured is not as sensitive as it is. It easily works on my site maybe because I'm the one who teaches the machine with my voice and my pitch is higher. So it's very accurate when I test it myself. However, when people with lower tone is interacting with my installation, it's not so sensitive. Thus, I might have to train the machine more with people that have a lower tone. The placement of the microphone might have to take into consideration as well.

ScreenRecording

The screen recording has no purpose but I would like to document it as part of my journal. It's part of my growing process handling my own project all by myself, setting up the projector,  climbing the ladders to hang the hook (I'm scared), judging the project all by my own. It's memorable when I look back in the future.
