Do Good Project Week 6 : Technical Tryout & Exploration of Materials

In Week 6, I came across to have some conversation with other lecturers on my project. Based on their feedback, the experience of the installation is too structuralized. Based on their experience, an immersive installation is more expressive and we should not force the audience to do the tasks given. From what I'm proposing right now, users will feel overwhelmed when they are forced to answer so many questions when interacting with the jellyfish. Thus, I plan to develop further and think from another perspective to propose a better execution.

Refinement on Storyboard

This is the latest storyboard. There will still be narration happening but it only happens when the user steps into the dark room. The purpose is to let user express their positivity and negativity freely in the room without any restrictions. The flow of the interactions is as described.

Technical Research

I start to do hands-on with the technical part. I did some research on the coding of LED programmable lights, machine learning, and processing.

Technical Tryout

Codes

These are some of the screenshots that I've tried to play around with the lights. During the process, I study the examples provided in the library files and try to tweak around with the value and codings.

Experiments

While waiting for the led lights to arrive, I manage to find a small stripe of LED lights to test around. I test around with the blending of lights (LINEARBLEND/ NOBLEND), brightness, hue, and delay of each led light passing through the strips.

Materials

I also start to explore on fabrics. I bought 3 different fabrics which are polynet, bridal tulle and crystal organza. the fabrics will be decorated on the head and the tentacles of jellyfish.

Conclusion

To conclude, I finalize my project proposal and start to program the LED lights. For the next step, I'll be programming on the LED lights for positive, negative, and neutral intonations. I will also start to explore teachable machines to get familiar with the logic behind them.
